Wellesley Opens Morses Pond, Seeks Volunteers for Two Town Boards

A Wellesley mother accused of killing her children appeared in a Vermont court, according to an AOL.com report surfacing overnight, even as the town on Tuesday moved into the quieter rhythms of early summer — opening Morses Pond for the season and posting two civic-board vacancies with a mid-July deadline.

TOWN HALL

The town posted back-to-back recruitment notices Monday and Tuesday. The Select Board is seeking residents to serve on the Wellesley Municipal Light Board, and the Cultural Council is looking for new members to help direct local arts grants. Both application deadlines fall on July 17. The Wellesley Cultural Council serves as the town's arm of the Massachusetts Cultural Council, distributing state funds to local artists and organizations.

Morses Pond opened for the 2026 summer season and is now operating seven days a week. Lifeguards conduct required swim tests for access to the deep-water area and the water slide; park rangers are on duty from 5 p.m. through dusk.
