Select Board hears Fire Station Master Plan, advances annual appointments

WELLESLEY — June 2, 2026 — Wellesley Select Board hears Fire Station Master Plan pointing toward a bigger Station 1. Consultants and fire officials, including former Chief David Soar, told the board Tuesday that the Station 2 headquarters "isn't big enough to handle what would be needed" when multiple engine companies and ambulances must deploy at once, and that under a continued two-station configuration Station 1 would need to grow as call volume rises. Chair Marjorie Freiman called fire facilities "if not the most, it's up there in terms of the more serious concerns that the towns face," and closed the item without a vote: "This is a wonderful report." The board then turned to five annual appointment motions and was scheduled to enter executive session on potential litigation involving Albany Road-Wellesley, LLC, and 40 Oakland Street.
