Council on Aging approves up to $17,000 for director search firm

WELLESLEY — March 11, 2026 — Wellesley Council on Aging approves up to $17,000 to hire an executive search firm for its director vacancy. The board voted 9-0 at a March 11 special remote meeting to draw the funds from its Executive Office of Aging and Independence accounts and to authorize the Search Subcommittee to select a suitable firm. Chair Judy Gertler made the motion; Vice Chair Peter Grape seconded. Secretary Patricia Decker outlined three options from Community Paradigms — an interim-director track, a full permanent search, or both in parallel — though members agreed the subcommittee could pivot to another vendor if needed. Much of the discussion focused on payment terms and how to define a "successful search," including whether a hire who resigns within three months would qualify. Members Margaret Lyne and Barbara Searle were absent. Minutes were approved April 16.
